WHO WE ARE

BRIEF HISTORY

ABI TRAILERS was born in 2002 with the desire to create unique customizable products for boat handling. After 10 year the company  became the first manufacturer of motorized trailer for boat and still is today.

In synergy with a team of special equipment division engineers with strong backgrounds, the first boat mover were designed, built and delivered both nationally and internationally

Over the years, ABI TRAILERS continually grew and evolved, becoming a global leader in the field of heavy transport equipment, with thousands of trailers worldwide, spanning a total of 50 countries.

PREMISES

The headquarters are in the north-central Italy at Via Coppi,40 41043 Formigine (MO) – very close to the heart of the Motor Valley.

ABI TRAILERS covers a total area of 5.000 m2, used as manufacture premises and offices.

FIELD OF ACTIVITY

Our business is divided into two main business areas: Marinas and shipyards solutions and industrial equipment.

We serve a broad range of customers, providing efficiency and productivity enhancing handling solutions in the following fields:

  • Marinas, boatyards, shipyards (boat production or refit) and coast guard bases.
  • Civil works – infrastructures (bridges, viaducts, tunnels, etc. )
  • Fabrication yards, steel mills \ renewable energy \ dam’s plants
  • Waste treatment planta
  • Mining industry
  • Indoor industrial use
  • Film industry
  • Special fields where tailor-made applications are required

All our products are designed to respond to and comply with each customer’s specific requirements.

ENGINEERING

ABI TRAILERS  has had its own engineering department since its foundation.

The structure’s calculations are made with F.E.A. (Finite Element Method Analyzing).

Drawings are made with 2D and 3D – C.A.D. and Inventor 3D modelling Software (Computer Aided Design).

MANUFACTURING

ABI TRAILERS  conducts all production in-house, starting from the raw steel plates to the finished product.

Our workshop is equipped with a broad range of advanced fabrication tools, such as:

  • Computer controller automatic submerged arc welders,
  • High-definition plasma cutting machine,
  • CNC lathes,
  • Equipped booths for sandblasting,
  • Climate controlled booths for painting, etc.

To comply with even the most exacting customer specifications.

QUALITY CONTROL

  • Visual and dimensional control of the raw materials (e.g., steel plates) and of the manufactured steel parts (before proceeding with welding).
  • Non-destructive testing of welds (e.g., penetrant testing).
  • Check that all fabricated parts are as per our client’s specifications and within indicated tolerances.

ABI TRAILERS under the mother unit “ASCOM S.p.A” is certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and UNI EN ISO 14001:2015.

Moreover, all our cranes comply with Directive CEE-2006/42/CE and are marked CE.

Each phase of the work is continuously controlled to monitor the activity flow and analyze the reliability of the production process.

During manufacturing, we foresee quality checks, including, but not limited to:

  • Final dimensional control of the manufactured steel parts after final welding (e.g., crane’s frame).
  • Coating check (e.g., thickness).
  • Blank test of all hydraulic functions/circuits, including over-pressure tests carried out from 50% to 100% of the standard operating pressure according to the different hydraulic functions.
  • Blank test of the electric system
